Adriaan du Toit holds a M.Sc. Natural Science degree in Honeybee and Crop Pollination management and a PhD Natural Science in Factors affecting sunflower production.
Following a 12 year career in the Agricultural production environment, Adriaan formed Le Toit Management Consultants. He used the vast experience gained in the agricultural environment to not only begin a commercial beekeeping operation, but also to offer consulting services in agriculture specialising in project management. He serves as member of various committees of professional bodies, including being member of two Ministerial Advisory Committees, dedicated time to refereeing of papers and has had a number of papers published, both nationally and internationally. Adriaan was also the recipient of three Industry awards, the Rand Agricultural Show Beekeeper of the year award (2x) and recipient of the Dr Bing Wiese Medal for his Scientific Contributions on Beekeeping.
Adriaan joint the SABS in 2007 as Business Development Manager for the Food & Health Division. He demonstrated his leadership and negotiation skills by organising the successful launch of Food Safety Management Systems (ISO 22000) in South Africa and Swaziland. Adriaan then worked in the certification environment at different managerial levels at DQS South Africa and Aspirata Certification. He is experienced in Management System operations and successfully accredited Aspirata Certification Body to the international food safety standards FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 and HACCP (SANS) 10330.
At present Adriaan is back at his Consultancy operations, where he provides management system implementation, auditing and training. He is a registered Food Safety Auditor with IRCA (International Registrar for Certificated Auditors) with lead auditor experience in ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, HACCP as well as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Adriaan further completed the Global GAP (Fresh produce) and Global GAP Farm Assurer (Live Stock) courses.
